Hidradenitis Suppurativa is a rare skin disease affecting areas bearing apocrine sweat glands and hair follicles.
Hello Everyone! I posted earlier about an HS clinical trial going on in Southern California. We actually filled our allotment but due to such a positive feedback from current patients and demand, we were able to obtain another few spots for anyone who wants it. If you are interested in participating, leave a comment or send me a message. I can send you the study forms which will detail everything you need to know about the trial. As a reminder, it is a 52 week clinical trial looking to alleviate moderate to severe HS. The primary doctor running this trial is a board certified dermatologist with extensive experience in HS and Clinical trials. You must be located in Southern California to attend the visits, We are located in Orange county.
Wolverine Clinical Trials in Santa Ana, CA is looking for volunteers for a HS study!
If eligible, volunteers will receive study medication and study medical care at no cost. It is a 7 month study that involves medication for 4 months and 2 follow up appointments. To be eligible, you must be age 18 or older and have HS for at least 1 year.

People with Hidradenitis Suppurativa or HS are still looking for relief and remedy for
this condition and it seems many have not been successful in removing its symptoms
and many painful skin inflammations & problems.
I too had HS and it has been with me for over 12 years. It is hard to accept but I have been waking up and feel this disfiguring illness in my
armpits , chests and private areas below the belt and it hurts not only physically- body
but also I am hurt in mind.
Most of the people I meet have never heard of it and I can not even discuss it with
friends because if I start, either they are not interested and it is a depressing
topic so I almost never discuss hidradenitis except a doctor or another who has
the same condition.
But going forward, I always wanted to get over this disease and I found an
article that gave me hope because the author got cured of this illness.
I also found another person that used this same cure or therapy and she
says it has alleviated her condition not totally but 60% improvement.
My God, I am really interested and even some improvement is what I want
- I mean getting improvement is better than no improvement because I
hurt bad like I said both physically and mentally from HS.
Okay, but now I got this same treatment and my improvement is tremendous
because I am saying I got total healing after 10 months treatment.
I am grateful and here is what happened , when my improvement reached 85% which
was a big change & quite a transformation for me, I didn’t wait for total healing to
act, I got out and socialized, looked for new friends including lady friends and I have
a new girl friend now.
Anyway, if people with HS want healing and this treatment
view the article

And the treatment
But then I used the method of Claire ( not her real name) but she uses that
name in her blog /article and got herself healed.
It should be a good idea to follow one who has been there & done something that
gave good results.
I followed her method and it worked.
The hardest part is learn & be gluten-free because gluten antibodies causes HS.
Once you are well you can go back to eating gluten.

Hi Bernie, I managed to find the article and copied into my email so I can print it off later to read. You are a wealth of both information and help - I know I've just said so, but I am ever so grateful.
Lianna, I can't believe that I found this link as I only had the essay in printed form but I did. This is written by Tammie Ferris who I consider a friend though I've never met her. She used to run the HS Hotline and I spoke with her more than once when I was trying to find treatment for HS. She is the one who guided me to the IR and AD aspect of HS. Read this.....it should help you a lot. Your link test"http://forums.horsecity.com/index.php?showtopic=47064237 Hope the link worked. If not search for " Birnbaum Androgen Dysfunction Tammie Ferris " it will be label Long Article. Bernie
I am a healed case of Hidradenitis or HS.
How did I do it?
I’ve tried everything most HS patients would do but never got the healing, I
was frustrated.

Hi Lizzie, Hirsutism is connected to excess male hormones in women...that was the connection I made that led me to the Spironolactone prescription. The low sugar and weak symptoms point to insulin resistance....make sure your doctor orders a HbA1C blood test. If you are insulin resistant your doctor should start you on medication (I take Metformin). And btw, while some doctors will say a result of 6 on the blood test indicates you are not IR, other doctors would. You might want to do some research on PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). See if you can find a paper by Dr. Samuel Thatcher called PCOS 101. It was thru his work I made the connections between HS and insulin resistance and androgen levels. Editing this post to add that the paper I referenced above is really titled PCOS: The Hidden Epidemic. Bernie
Thanks Bernie, I think these ideas will help me at my next visit! Just a few questions, did you have hirsutism as well (thats male pattern hair growth)? What about excessive vaginal mucous, was that an issue? I get low sugar and no matter how much I eat always feel "wafery." Not strong, but weak. Did you feel this way? Lizzie
The following link is to an essay written by Tammie Ferris who ran an HS hotline some years ago. She did tremendous research and has written a very easy to understand translation of serious research done by two doctors, Dr. Samuel Thatcher, and Dr. Michael Birnbaum. Please read it. http://forums.horsecity.com/index.php?showtopic=47064237 If you read my profile you'll see I've applied this research to myself and have been in remission for many years. Regards, Bernie

CoRDS, or the Coordination of Rare Diseases at Sanford, is based at Sanford Research in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It provides researchers with a centralized, international patient registry for all rare diseases. This program allows patients and researchers to connect as easily as possible to help advance treatments and cures for rare diseases. The CoRDS team works with patient advocacy groups, individuals and researchers to help in the advancement of research in over 7,000 rare diseases. The registry is free for patients to enroll and researchers to access.
Enrolling is easy.
After these steps, the enrollment process is complete. All other questions are voluntary. However, these questions are important to patients and their families to create awareness as well as to researchers to study rare diseases. This is why we ask our participants to update their information annually or anytime changes to their information occur.
Researchers can contact CoRDS to determine if the registry contains participants with the rare disease they are researching. If the researcher determines there is a sufficient number of participants or data on the rare disease of interest within the registry, the researcher can apply for access. Upon approval from the CoRDS Scientific Advisory Board, CoRDS staff will reach out to participants on behalf of the researcher. It is then up to the participant to determine if they would like to join the study.
Visit sanfordresearch.org/CoRDS to enroll.
Does anyone on here remember Tammie Ferris? She was my mom. She helped a lot with the HS community and I was just wondering if anyone might remember her.
