Hi All. Am wondering if anyone on here has heard of Leaky Gut Syndrome. I have recently read an article about this issue, and it seems to be linked to most autoimmune diseases. There is quit a bit of info on the internet. Since I am new to Antisynthetase, this being 3 weeks after diagnosis, I am trying to get any and all information I can. I am waiting to see a stomach motility specialist about the problems I have and some test results my rheumatologist seems certain my symptoms are linked to my illness but is unsure how. I will look into leaky gut syndrome and see if the symptoms are the same. I'll get back to you. Bye for now Katrina x

I too read about Leaky Gut Syndrome a couple of months ago. I asked a nutritionist at the hospital and she thinks there may be something to it, so I'm taking L-Glutamine, that supposedly can help and you should also take pro-biotics and avoid molds and yeasts in your diet. That makes it kind of tough. I have yet to see any big improvement, but It can't hurt so I'm going to continue to stick with it. Also I first came down with this disease (A.S.S. with AntiJo-1) almost 2 years ago, it seemed to possibly be set off by exposure to a lot of mold and dust. Anybody else have any theories of what might have first set off the disease other than bad genes? Thank you.

I had chicken pox in my twenties really badly. Following this I had a really bad case of pneumonia and since then every time I got a cold or run down I ended up with bronchitis until finally this didn't get better and, to cut a long story short, I was diagnosed with ASS. Sometimes wonder if the chicken pox virus triggered something. Has anybody lost teeth due to bone loss prior to a flair up? I have lost 2 on two separate occasions. My dentist says the condition is rare and he can't explain it. Katrina x

I had the chicken pox as a child. I have had this disease for six years this comming spring. I was diagnosed with ass 1 year ago in August. I have gastric reflux disease. I have not heraed of the leaky gut. This would be good to know if it is connected.
