Visual memory...

Hi everyone, Physical symptoms aside the only significant (cerebral?) impairment I have noticed is that my visual memory has deteriorated slowly over time. For instance when once I was able to drive to a location relying solely on memory I now can't leave home without my Sat-Nav!! I think the main problem I have is with orienteering - what, in my mind, is on the left and what is on the right? etc. I'm also not too good at _recalling_ past experiences in the visual sense either - holiday's, old schools etc. Has anyone else noticed this? I find that it comes and goes and that some days are better than others. I understand that, as far as symptoms go, it's a fairly common one for AMN. Cheers, Matt

Hi Matt, I have not experienced that "yet". But the cerebral involvement in AMN is relatively rare or very slow. Have you done any MRI for your brain lately. If you haven't, I strongly recommend you to do so fast. The gene therapy for ALD children published in Science in 2009 gave us hope that adult AMN may get treated with this method soon. But we have to push it. Best, Ye
