Convulsions

I am told that my entire body convulses when I sleep. Does anyone else have that? I have bad sleep deprivation and I'm beginning to think that that is the cause.

I take Baclofen, Cortef, Florinef, Ditropan, Trazadone, Gabopentin, Synthroid, and others. None help this for some reason.

Just read your profile LonelyCat, that sucks you get this so young. I had Adrenoleukodystrophy when I was 13, have brain damage, now Adrenomyeloneuropathy, Eats my spinal chord. Pretty messed up now. I agree with live life as much as you can. I still work, take care of myself. My wife left me over this. So you just do what you gotta do. I am moving to SC with family that will treat me well, I do not get that where I live. Anyways, have a good one.

My husband has AMN...takes Gabapentin and Suboxone...I feel his muscles twitch while he sleeps. He's 64...only had it 6 years...mostly the problem has been pain. We use magnesium for the muscle twitch/cramping. Best is a product called Calm...dry powder you can mix with flavoring...it fizzes when you put water into the powder...start with 1/2 tsp to see if it makes your bowels move like milk of magnesia...if not, use more. We use the flavoring you put in water bottles...a little bit just to make it taste better. Stir it a lot so that all the fizz bubbles break up and don't give you indigestion...do it an hour b4 bedtime. Good luck.

Every night before I go to bed I do some stretching exercises -- for me, this really helps with leg "jumping." My favorite exercise goes like this: I sit on the bed with my knees fully bent, but my legs are perpendicular to my torso so that I'm actually sitting on my outstretched feet. Then, I lean back so my back now rests on the bed. I hold this a while... it really stretches my quads and helps me to relax at night.

I find that the muscle spasms in my legs is mostly associated with my peripheral neuropathy. I take Lyrica (Pregabalin) an hour to an hour and a half before bed and it helps to reduce the spasms from being triggered by nerve problems in my feet and ankles. It doesn't help, however, with the general spasms that happen when I start to fall asleep and my muscles relax. jchumsley thank you, the stretching advice is very welcomed and I know works if we will make time for it!!
