Hi there. I used to take predn. But my doctor switched me to hydrocort because my cortisol level is low so i dont know which will be best for you.

Hi my brother, I've just joined this forum and I've have addison since age 18 now I'm 44, and up to a couple of years ago was diagnosed with Adrenomyeloneuropathy while dealing with the symptoms since age 28. Since being diagnosed with Addison's I have always being taking Prednisone along with Florinef. Because I've being on Prednisone so long I was diagnosed with severe Ostoporosis, especially in the hips. My direct email is Arod0168@gmail.com should anyone be interested in communicating about our struggles

I just joined this forum also. I was diagnosed with Addison's at age 41 and my Endocrinologist put me on Cortef and Florinef. Later, after I was diagnosed with AMN (at age 57), I found out that Prednisone and Fludrocortisone Acetate were much cheaper on my prescription program -- my Doctor let me switch and I have had good blood tests since changing. I don't think there is any difference between the drugs, just name brand versus generic.

Hydrocort or cortef or hydrocortisone all have more of the minerals and glucocorticoids normally excreted by the adrenal gland
