Too much! My daughter had a T&A to open her airway when she was a month old, then an aggressive Adenoidectomy at 5 for severe obstructive sleep apnea.(so severe they admitted her to the ICU during her sleep study)

Thanks for the info! How is you daughter doing after the surgery? Is she sleeping through the night? Did she have a good recovery? Did she also have alot of infections before surgery? Thanks for the help, Amy

Our son had a tonsilectomy adnoidectomy at a year old. It was his easiest surgery to get over. He's had 14 so far at age 9. This did help some of his obstructive sleep apnea but his issues were much greater than just that. We later found his aortic was crimping his bronchial and once they did his open heart surgery his breathing and coloring was a whole lot better. Tonsil/adnoid is a very common surgery with many people these days and it gives you a great excuse to eat as much ice cream as you want. :) Hope all goes well and the issues are resolved with the surgery.

She's doing great now. The recovery was easy for her (you know these kids are tough!). She didn't even need Tylenol for the pain. If it's for sleep apnea, keep in mind they can grow back, so down the road keep an eye out for recurring symptoms. She did get frequent infections, but that's what the tonsils are for... they train the rest of the immune system to recognize pathogens, so not necessarily a bad thing overall. T&A is probably the most common surgery for kids, piece of cake.

Also, she still gets Strep every time her sister does, so it didn't help with that.
