I was supposed to have gone into the Mayo Clinic by last Fall but apparently my doctor (in Toronto) cannot get me into the mayo clinic because the Clinic is holding him up with paperwork!! Because of this I do not know when I will be going in due to the hold up. So now my life is on hold and I thought going into the Mayo Clinic was not to take this long. My doctors name is Dr. Flavio Habal

Your doctor may not have told you this, but I bet the problem is your Canadian health insurance, which may not cover all of your likely expenses in the United States. If you are willing to pay yourself out of pocket, I'm sure the Mayo Clinic will see you next week. When I was visiting in Canada a year-and-a-half ago and needed medical care, I had to give my credit card everywhere I went; they wouldn't take my U.S. health insurance.

I would agree with Arturo. My first visit to Mayo, to see Dr. Greipp, was denied by my insurance. I paid the $500 visit myself. When I returned, I turned the paperwork that Mayo gave me and got the $500 reimbursed from the insurance. You may want to press the insurance company that Mayo is one of the few places that have "knowledge" on CLS. I was turned down initially because there were other Hematologists in my area. The insurance company goes by types of Doctors, not medical condition. You have to press them that a local Doctor has very little knowledge on CLS. You can get into Mayo rather quickly.
