Have been reading through the disorder details and very interested if anyone has found a baby formula that does not contain citrates. We are currently using Nestle's Good Start Supreme and it has citrates. We were on Alimentum before this and A has actually done better on the Nestles.

If he tolerates it, don't try to change, the key symptom for Shiny of not tolerating citrates was her horrible horrible butt rash and vomiting. Realistically, I'm not sure any of them on the market now are citrate-free. Shiny had only breastmilk.

Hi - I'm not familiar with what an adverse reaction to citrate would be... but I noticed you mentioned horrible rashes and vomitting... Is citrate intolerance something your children were tested for? I'm wondering if my daughter is intolerant - at 3 yo, we are still not sure why she has such bad rashes and reflux. I'd appreciate learning more about citrate reactions, I tried googling but didn't find anything relevant. Thanks! Rachel

Rachel, I found the reference to the citric acid on the disorder details of this website. First time I had seen this. Our daughter A (4q21.22q21.23) has had terrible reflux since birth. Have tried Alimentum for a long time and then we switched to Good Start Supreme. Both have been okay, but she is still refluxing and thought this might be a good lead for us. A had bad reaction to Enfamil (AR, added rice) in the beginning and had bad diaper rash and diarhea. Same thing when she went on antibotics.

Thanks - our daughter (4q32.2-terminal) has been on Pediasure with fiber for the last two years... plus solids. I will definitely mention the possibility of intolerance at her next GI appt.
