Hi All. After 9 successful years of IVIG being taken via canula I have asked my specialist for a "port" or Port-A-cath. This requires an anesthetic and she would like to know any recent experiences from our community with the use of anesthetics. I would welcome anybodies feedback on this issue. Thanks
Hi WazzaACT,
To my knowledge there is no contraindication to use local or general anesthetics in connection with SCLS. I had several general anesthesias for orthopedic problems and local anesthesias for skin wounds without any problems.

Hi WazzaAct,
I had many general anesthesias for orthopedic problems (compartment Syndrom/fasciotomy including wound healing problems and surgeries at my feet) and several local anesthesias, including the surgery in which I got a port 9 months ago. No problems at all with the anesthesia.
Before the first "planned" surgery I asked my doctors. They said, that SCLS should not be a problem. Of course, they cannot give a 100% guarantee, because no one knows much about SCLS.
Andreas
Warren,
I cannot recall any published or RareShare-community reports of any SCLS-related problems with anesthesia, partial or even general. And like Andreas, I've had plenty of surgical interventions -- more than 25, in fact -- mostly with general anesthesia, and there was never a problem, never mind an SCLS-related problem.

Thanks so much everyone. Very much appreciated.
I had a few general anesthetics when my legds needed stitching up after Fasciotomies without problems.
Hello Wazza, I hope all is well. I have had a couple of light aneasthetics for coronary angiograms etc. really only midazolam, but had to be prepared for GA if things went pear shaped. Absolutely no trouble. I hope corona is leaving you and all of the rareshare group alone? John
Hi John. I am fine but of course a little on edge given this coronovirus outbreak. We can count ourselves fortunate in Australia that we have so little community transmission and an excellent medical infrastructure for all. How about you? Warren
