Hello rnuara, The Ember is fascinating, though with a few issues. On the website it states, "if you want to use Ember in connection with a medical condition, it is not for you." Normally your Hb varies with altitude. BUT, it takes 6 weeks to acclimatise. Normally, you Hb varies largely with dehydration, but this involves normal compensation. You lose fluid, eg 1litre per hour of intense exercise will cause a loss of 5 l in 5 hrs.... Enough to cause shock or death. (Normal blood volume is 5l)! You have to rehydrate under stressed conditions. BUT. SCLS is not a simple thing. You can hange altitude, change exercise, yet SCLS WILL leak fluid into oedema whether you like it or not, and ALSO within 30 mins. A Hb estimation just cannot tell tou what is going down. I did my Hb twice daily for 3 months and it showed nothing. Nothing. Nothing. If you want to understand your condition, by all means try Ember. But be aware, that, at this stage Ember will not provide an answer. Stick to IVIG. JOHN
