Blood test results

I have been on this board for a few years now and my health is deteriorating. Living in a small town in New Zealand is not helping and I have not yet had a definitive diagnosis despite having chronic swelling ( see my profile). I have just had some blood tests come back today with these findings and am hoping someone somewhere might be able to see a pattern. Is any of this associated with SCLS as the patterns seem to be becoming more consistent. Increase in polyclonal electropheresis in the gamma region, high Alpha 1 antititrypsin, high IgG, high amylase, low ferritin and high transferrin. I know nothing about bloods at all and there is not even a hematologist in this little town I live in. Ruth Nolan, could you please give me the name of your hematologist in Christchurch. I did ask before buy you may have missed it. My email address is: sally.egdeg@hotmail.com

Hi Your blood analysis should be seen in relation to the rest of the results, and your history on that item. Elevated monoclonal immunoglobulin is as we all know related tot SCLS, but your description seems not to be the same, and meets a broader spectrum of diseases e.g. Infections and others. is it temporarely? Transferrine and ferritine levels could be related to a lack of iron or anemia, on the other hand the alfa1 antitrypsine level and amylase can be related to an infection, problems with your pancreas/liver or maybe just and only related to a Side effect of IVIG or temporarely effect of capillary leak in the abdominal region. But I wouldn't give rise to incorrect conclusions. As so much is not known about the diseases and the effect of IVIG it is hard to make a conclusion,, especially not on one accoasion without knowing the relation to the rest of your medical results.. I think and hope that the blood has been taken by your doctor and I would suggest to discuss the results with her or him? Your ask for contacting a hematologist could meet that suggestion. Hiltjo

Sarah with the greatest respect your GP is the only person who can refer you to a haematologist. I don't see mine for another three and half months and would not be able to give out her name without her permission. I am baffled that you haven't been refered to your closest hospital; even in the smallest towns in New Zealand there is usually a hospital relatively close? Best wishes Ruth

I have been referred to the ;local hospital but all I get to see is the registrar and I have had to wait for months and months to see a specialist privately and he does not know what to do! His exact words were "I don't know what to do and I will see you in the Emergency Dept" Nobody knows what to do. At least he was honest. Could you maybe ask your hematologist if you are able to give me her name as she is at least familiar with the blood pattens of a Capillary :Leak patient as it is so rare.. I was in Taupo and traveled to Ak to see specialists but am now in New Plymouth Thanks Sarah
