Hi. Just wandering if anyone who has ASS + ILD + Anti Jo-1 has successfully received a payout for TPD Insurance, especially in Australia. Love to hear your experiences or any advice for approaching this. Supposedly in Austalia the definition of TPD (when insured via Super) is: "Any Occupation TPD - the claimant must be unable to work in their occupation and also any occupation that they are suited to via education, training or experience ever again." I had earlier on thought of TPD and taking my super early but as a teacher it would have meant being totally and permanently disabled from Teaching not all work. I may still within the next 5 years or so have to do that depending on my lungs and whether I got any infections etc. I took 2 years income protection from Queensland Education because it is included as an insurance policy via Super. Sydney we will have an answer next week as to the success of my husband's claim. I'll definitely let you know how it goes. His case manager seems to think there won't be a problem but it goes to a delegates meeting on Monday and they decide then. I think it depends on what profession you are in as well. He was a Green Keeper so it's heavy, very physical work. The scarring he has in his lungs will stop him working in that field again. But on top of that he also has Industrial Deafness and a bad knee from a work accident many years ago that has already had an ACL replacement and a bone graft.

I received all my super and basic life insurance for TPD. Waiting for my voluntary life insurance to be paid out. I was a TAFE teacher. I'm in Australia and diagnosed ASS ILD JO-1

Just thought that I would update. The TPD claim was approved today! So relieved.
