I was notified that my hospital is switching the IVIG brand from Privigen to Carimune. Has anyone else switched brands? Any have you experienced any differences using Carimune? Good news is that my insurance company approved IVIG for another 12 months.

Hello Rnuara, I changed several times immunoglobulin brand, without any particular problem. During the first infusion, follow the guidelines of the firm for the infusion rate. The effectiveness of different immunoglobulins in the prevention of acute SCLS is probably the same. Best regards. Claude Pfefferlé, Switzerland

I originally started on Privigen and the hospital here switched to Octagam. I also had a minor reaction to Privigen which I believe was 'speed of infusion' related vs. product related, but I switched regardless. No issues from Octagam. The one thing I don't like is that it takes longer to infuse Octagam since it is twice the amount of fluid. So now I have two infusions a month and each takes about 7 - 8 hours vs. 4 -5 hours each. Not a huge deal, but it forces me to be out of work for two full days per month vs. two half days.
