over the last few months I have been battling this eye problem. My entire eye is red, swollen, ichy and so painful there are times I have to wear a patch b/c any light is too bright and my eye feels like it is pulsating out of my head. I remember before I was diagnosed with ASS I was having issues with my eyes, it wasnt long after that started that I went completely downhill and ended up in a coma, So I was curious if anyone had problems with their eyes on top of all this other crap.

My eyes get dry, itching and burn. Not as bad as ur stating though. I hope you find out what's going on and get some relief. They say mine is from sjordgens disease. Have you been diagnosed with that?

I have a lot of pain in my left eye....It have been going on for a couple of years now...I thought it was signs of a stroke at first but they have not found any reason for the pain.

No pain but I often wake up with really red eyes. My optician always comments on how dry they are. Also had steroid induced glaucoma when I was on a high dose. Have you checked out the side effects of your meds?

I have been to 3 different eye doctors, each one not having a clue as to what is going on. The third doctors thought he figured it out, but nope. He kept running all these different tests and has had no luck. The pain is not near as bad as it used to be and it is not continuously everyday, so I decided to take a break from him for awhile. His office is two hrs away and I'm not to drive that far alone and asking people to always take me makes me feel bad. I decided to get a new pair of glasses, layoff the contacts while I can't really travel the 2 hours to get there. My rheumy told me it is definitely from the ASS and especially my antibody, PL125. I can deal with this but not this winter weather!

Burning eyes and dryness as well as a dry mouth were very distinctive features in the beginning, when my husband was first diagnosed with UIP. He actually went to his primary care physician and he immediately did blood work and it came back positive for Sjogren's. That led to other blood tests and resulted in the diagnosis of anitsynthetase. In any case, he started using Biomed toothpaste and mouthwash as well as eyedrops. He has been on Cellcept for about 3 1/2 years and those symptoms have gradually decreased since taking it.

I have experienced an ache around my eyes for over five months. The ache is worse if I am in bright sunlight. I saw an optician and I mentioned about the discomfort around both eyes. The pressure in the eyes was no different from six years earlier when I was last tested. The optician recommended an eye mask which you heat in a microwave but this did not help as I tried it for about five weeks. I was diagnosed with Antisynthetase Syndrome in February this year following interstitial lung disease last summer.
